This is not my… was formulated after another long discussion on the state of the world.
You know the ones – where everyone agrees that it is in a mess – has another drink – dances like a crazy monkey – wakes up the next day and is so hung over that they just HAVE to have a coffee on the way to work from a company with dubious employment policies and a notable lack of environmental concern.
It just seemed ridiculous that even if we were going to get drunk and put the world to rights that we couldn’t buy our much sought after bacon sandwich the next day without going against everything we had just pledged to stand for.
Well – it transpires that it is not impossible to buy our hangover salvation from a more ethical source. In fact it is not impossible to buy most things from ethical producers or sustainable growers if you know where to find them.

Hmmm - but how can I find them..? (I hear you ask*)
![]()
Well - this site will provide information to help us to find these products. Just think of it as a big investigative quest… (ok ok just trying to enthuse you – always fancied being on a quest – or being a pirate... a pirate on a quest!?)
This is not my… is not designed to preach but simply to encourage a little bit of ‘consumer disobedience’. Instead of buying all of the things that are constantly being shoved at us by companies that spend a lot more on their marketing than their employees welfare we want to highlight companies, large or small, that provide real alternatives and products that have been made in a better way.
We want your involvement too so if you know of anything that might help and that we can pass on then please get in touch!
Our spending is our real power – somehow things always seem to happen if money is concerned so lets use this power to instigate change.
There is already some great and easily digestible information out there – just look at the Good Shopping Guide or see the increase in Fair Trade products. Yet better spending is still not quite as widespread as it should be.
How can we honestly allow child labour, oppressive working conditions and environmental degradation to continue when we have the resources to avoid it?
At This is not my… we refuse to believe that it is impossible to knock a trend into the mainstream. If Burberry can do it then so can we - anyone got Jordan’s number?
* a slightly worrying sign of delusion
