Angel or Devil?
How hard is it to live in an ethical way?
In this section we take up challenges to check out the pros and cons of a little lifestyle change.

Week Fifteen: Ethics on the go...
So it's one of those weeks. We are all moving. La and I will no longer live together (or worryingly resemble a long married couple!) and Ollie is giving up the delights of Hounslow for those of Tooting.
But with all of the commotion and a distinct lack of time will it be difficult to keep our minds on ethical living?

Ollie has had a manic weekend (far too much having fun if you ask me...) He has lots of work, sleep and organising to catch up on. Will this all prove too much?
Monday
My ethics always seem to take a knock when life gets busy. But hopefully this week can be different though. By spending the majority of my time on public transport and little time using the precious resources associated with being at home.
Tuesday
Hmm no idea where these bananas came from that I am eating with my peanut butter. But the Cockney chap assured me that "Oh yes Guv these are the genuine fair-trade bananas alright!" Funny as they are the only ones I have ever seen without Fair-trade stickers and so cheap hmmmmmm
Wednesday
Not going too well here.
I mean I'm not really doing anything bad but neither am I doing much good. It is definitely harder than I thought it would be, being ethical takes forethought, time and a little preparation. I seem to have none of these at the moment.
I have been living out of my corner shop so I doubt much of it's local produce. I am being vigilant on not buying food in excess packaging and always buy fruit and veges loose them putting them into one bag at the end but I'm hoping to do better once I am all settled into my new pad.

Susie has a heap of organising to do - most of which she is likely to leave till last minute just prior to a mad panic. Will convenience prove tempting by the end of the week?
Monday
Or the beginning of the week....
Had to help a mate out and there were so few shops that there was no option but to get the pre-packed (shame) non-organic (such shame) chicken sandwich for lunch.
Other than that have been good though - haven't been turning lights and taps on in a rash and carefree manner nor hired a massive gas guzzling hummer. Does that give me plus points?
Tuesday
Super cleaning mission. Ecover and elbow grease all the way - have a bit of a blocked sink problem... but found a brilliant blog howtogogreen.com that told that the way to avoid going down the toxic Mr Muscle route was to get a plunger.
Genius.
It didn't even cross my mind.
But I shall....
Wednesday
Good in terms of most things, public transport, walking, fair trade coffee, eating vegetables (ok so La made dinner again!) etc etc but must admit to a mineral water purchase....
It was all ok till it got sunny but I couldn't help getting dehydrated yesterday. Have to get back into the habit of taking a bottle with me.
Slapped wrist.
Thursday
I got that plunger! It worked brilliantly.
Sadly then I broke the shower - which wasn't so great in terms of water saving. Ahhh DIY. So much fun yet so much that can go wrong!

Lara always finds time to cook and will have no time for accidental post work shopping. She could sweep though to victory.
Monday
Today, I had someone bestow some good ethics on me! My sister helped me to move a couple of my trunks to her house to store in her basement, and her friend Christie lent me a gorgeous dress for my dinner at Claridges on Thursday! Oh and I said no to myself when walking home past all the sales that are happening on Oxford Street!
Tuesday
I made a Susie favourite for dinner - risotto - well i think it is fast becoming one anyway, and packed and moved and did not tell Susie, but at one point I looked around and I had the lights on in the kitchen, living room, hallway, bathroom and my bedroom! I just kept going back and forth between them all and it was so annoying!!!!! Promise to do better.
Wednesday
Oh my god, I might be going to EA. Electrics anonomys (and no I can't even spell it). I can't help it. I still find it hard to get in the habit of remembering to turn the lights off when I leave a room, or to unplug everything when I go to sleep. I can't think of anything nice that I did today either, oooo wait, I just did, i bought some haribo for myself and a girl I work with. That was nice of me, but are Haribo ethically friendly? I say for today there are because at least they made us smile.
