In preparation for the drought that Southern England should be facing this spring / summer, a water company in Kent has been given persmission to force 65,000 householders to install water meters.

Do you think that this is something that should be done across the whole of Southern England? Is it fair to force households to install the meters in the first place?

Yes, absolutely
Water meters are an essential tool in making people think before, for example, they let the tap run whilst cleaning their teeth - come on, we all do it, yet when away in funny places we are so careful with the drop of water in our mug when we clean them then because we have had to go and BUY the bottle.
Incidentally, water could be the new 'gold' for Scotland they have so much that if you want to have a water meter - as I did - you will find that it will cost you several hundred pounds because they don't WANT you to have one - they have so much of the gloriously soft and peaty stuff.
Have you noticed, whilst they talk about householders' not watering their gardens or washing cars they seldom say anything about watering the greens on golf courses hmmmmm.
