And singing.
And a couple of shoo wap girls.
No? Really no...? |

Had a website meeting yesterday evening.
Very entertaining since, as always, our website meeting was held in the pub.
Anyhow - progress was made on the site rebuild, plotting begun for a re launch party (surely there must be some environmental fireworks...?) and discussion held on the merits of an impromptu street musical. (Come on - it'd be so great!)
Such hard work did, though, mean that I only just made the last train home and have ignored my alarm clock for a bit longer than planned.
Have to get a wriggle on.
Busy weekend ahead. Which - pause for confession - will involve quite a bit of driving. (Dun nun nun nah.)
I try to avoid it whenever I can. (Not too hard when you don't have a car.) But sadly, this weekend, public transport just can not take me where I want to go.
So, in order to atone, I am going to spend a while clicking on the 'Preserve the endangered rainforest' button on The Rainforest site. (It is free and if you do, money is donated to the charity.)
Quite a good one to have as your home page if you like that sort of thing.
Anyhow - better go - but have a great weekend!

Everything is right again... |
![]()
I was beginning to wonder what was going on.
People kept talking to me about things I should know and looking a bit doubtful when I protested innocence.
And then they came.
All the emails that my thisisnotmy account had been hiding. All 386 random missives from friends, colleagues and - of course - viagra companies.
Yes - the spam is back.
Gone are the days when I have to work as soon as I fire up the computer; back the bleary eyed gauntlet of deletion I have come to know and love.
Anyhow - I have been making my way through the back-log and came across an email from Leon at the Natural Collection asking to be added to the directory.
I would like to pretend that it was this particular computer error that meant I had ignored it for so long but since it was sent in May it might be pushing it!
But it is a great company. In fact, I think I've actually bought things from there so not too sure why we don't have them listed already. I shall add it with haste. (Lots of different products for indoor and outdoor living.)
Right - best potter on through the emails I haven't yet answered but hope you are out and about soon in the sunshine!

The voices!
I kind of like them... |
![]()
Been listening to the radio.
It's great!
I used to stick the news on for an hour in the morning but - basically - I got bored. (There are only so many interviews with ex-Boyzone members you can watch without wondering whether the BBC should provide more searching reports.)
And - while I usually just stick on whichever channel I find (Heart FM just happens to be easy to get to ok...) - I have been branching out to new tunes and intriguing debates.
It's great.
And the voices are so soothing!
Plus - not only does it use at least 90% less energy than the TV, you tend to wander about more, so it is basically an aid to healthy living*.
Anyhow - best be off.
Loads to do today and the Moor Valley District Council might be about to grant planning permission for the gravel drive of Hadley court (not 100% sure the radio will 'accidentally' get knocked onto this channel quite so often...)
Have a good one

It's so sunny... |

and I am meant to be in the lake district.
Boo.
Was plotting a holiday but the trip was planned for this week rather than the weekend and I just assumed otherwise. (Assumption being the mother of all f*ck ups.*)
Anyhow - still on the cheap, low impact holiday theme - I am meant to be camping on a parkour trip. Parkour being a form of urban free running. Though I guess in this case, countryside free running. (If you fancy trying it out with instructors then these guys are amazing.)
Which in this beautiful weather would be brilliant.
Hmpf.
Guess I will just have to start plotting loads of other outdoor fun.
Running around and lazing with friends in parks. What could be better for the soul?
Well - apart from the Top Gun inspired volley ball competition we can now get round to organising!!
Woo hoo.
Actually - maybe life isn't too bad.
Who needs depression?
It's time for 'Playing with the boys...'**

*Distressingly I have just realised that this is a quote from Under Siege II... even more distressingly I am re-living the fact that I was forced to watch Under Siege II on Sunday...
**If you don't get the reference it will probably mean that you have never seen Top Gun. Or at least, were so scarred by the scene with Tom Cruise in his pants that you have totally forgotten the volleyball one. Tragedy. Now that is a film I would have liked to watch on Sunday night!

Finally... |
![]()
Went out on Thursday as usual but only just made it back through the door.
Very entertaining.
I was meant to be on holiday but - in an atounding piece of stupidity - got the dates wrong.
So I went anyway.
Well - mentally - by deciding to turn the phone off, ignore all responsibility and see where the wind took.
Most relaxing break I've had in ages!
Plus it was cheap (well - for London), totally unrestricted and had very little carbon footprint.
Definitely the way forward.
Anyhow - back to attempting to be a little more productive today.
Have been trying to prioritise things I want to do (so that some actually get done) and re. energy efficiency it is getting insulation which has, so far, been on the to-do list for 14 months.
My friend spent a fascinating* half hour explaining how easy it is to DIY and - much more importantly - offered to help.
Just need to measure the loft and get some Warmcell.
Easy.
Well - I hope...
If you don't hear from me in a while I may be stuck in the attic!
Have a great week.

*It was. Honestly. And I maintain that everyone else could have easily started conversations of their own... damn you!

This section will be a daily, well - Monday to Friday daily, editorial. (Have to keep some time aside to keep up the ritual wine drinking / dancing as if being chased by bees.)
I promise to make it my mission to investigate something each day on exciting forays to find new stuff, fun stuff, ethical stuff and anything involving break dancing men with extremely toned physiques.
Let me know if you think of something I should go and visit or if you have any great ideas or information. (Any dodgy suggestions will be politely declined... or not so politely, depending entirely on what they are!)
For today, though, please just have a look below to find out how this whole thing came about. I hope that you are having a lovely morning.
See you tomorrow,

Background to This is not my...
![]() |
What is this site all about?
Well, as all good ventures do, it started in the pub with the ominous words "I know, why don't we...?" |
![]()
What was different, though, was that it still seemed like a good plan in the morning (and somewhat less injurious than trying out extreme ironing, the other suggestion...)
Anyway - once again we had been supping beers and putting the world to rights when someone mentioned the unmentionable, despite our disaffection with the state of the world, none of us was actually doing anything positive to change it.
Whether this was complacency or apathy, who knows - but we were definitely leaving it to others to make decisions and take action for us on issues about which we felt strongly.
We live in a free society, but often things seem to happen as a fait accompli. The war in Iraq, ID cards, the fact that we will eventually succumb to watching some of Big Brother no matter how hard we try...
And we just go along with it. But that is ok, right? I mean, we aren't exactly encouraging the abuse of others - are we?
Ok - so maybe my new top might have been made under less-than-perfect conditions and I suppose that means I am supporting those conditions, but - I have to buy something to wear, so what other choice do I have?
And that was the problem. What - and where - are the choices?
So we decided to investigate. Surely in this free society we have other options; we just need to know how to find them.
So we went online. There are some great directories already for ethical and/or environmentally friendly products, but for us these didn't go far enough. We were on a bit of a roll and decided that these products deserved more active promotion.
We wanted to make as many people as possible aware of the practical things they can do to live life in a better way.
![]()
So on this site we will provide information about easy, positive and ethical consumer choices. These are choices that won’t necessarily cost you more, either.
In our directories you will find environmentally friendly and ethical companies and products across the following categories:
Clothes
Energy
Food and Drink
Health and Beauty
Home and Garden
Office
Recycling
Restaurants
You will also find plenty more to lure you back to the site on a regular basis. So come back to have a wee look.
Plus we will be working on video's, events and curious antics to keep important issues in the public eye – and provide us with much entertainment and amusement at the same time.
Give us a shout if you want to get involved!
Anyhow - take a look. Explore… investigate… probe away.
We hope you like it; we hope you use it.
