On the river... |

Have the day off.
Woo hoo.
Life is sweet.
It's my friends birthday and she wanted us to do some sort of exciting activity for the day. So we are going...
PUNTING!
It is sooooo 2007.
And a nice energy efficient pursuit.
Much like the Top Gun esque volleyball planned for tmrw.
Just a shame about that suspicious looking rain cloud on the weather forcast....
Oh my.
Anyway - have been thinking about energy efficient activities so might start investigating them a bit more.
Could be kind of fun.
Anyhow - best be getting along - haven't even located suitable head wear yet!
Have a brilliant weekend.

Everything hurts... |

Saw a couple of old friends last night and it all got a bit messy.
The ability to function is thus proving tricky.
Which is going to be more of an issue quite soon when the tasks I should be doing move on from making toast and cleaning my teeth to designing a computer system.
Particularly as I have no idea how to do that.
Ah well - nothing like a bit of a challenge.
Actually, was talking about challenge earlier in regard to peak oil and how - if there isn't as much reserve as previously thought - it would force the push to renewable energy sources.
Which would be marvelous for the environment.
(Ever the optimist...)
Hmmmm - anyhow - pondering such things is making my head hurt more. Best be getting along.
Computer systems... computer systems... how hard can they be...? (Oh lord - whose idea was it to get me to help with this!)

Not sure she'll go for it though... |

Those crazy assed hijackers got their tank!
(You may have read about it - the Space Hijackers bought a tank in order to protest outside the International Arms Fair a couple of weeks back.)
And now they have to find somewhere to store it.
The alley outside my house would be perfect!
How cool would that be?
Mind you - not sure how environmentally friendly it is to caretake a tank... guess if someone else would drive it and I wouldn't that would be a positive thing...
Oh well - I shan't worry. Not convinced my lovely house mate Kim will go for it in any case.
Despite the fact that it would be a brilliant crime deterrent* it could make getting her bike past an issue.
Talking of which, the bikes are coming out on Sunday for the London Free Wheel.
It'll be a great opportunity to see some of the sights without a car in sight.
Or a tank for that matter...
Susie x
*Come on, who'd rob a house with a TANK outside?!

18/09/07 - Bit of shopping
|
Bit of oggling... |
![]()
Was at lunch yesterday when I remembered I needed to pick up some screw in energy saving bulbs.
I mentioned that I was popping out to the hardware shop and my friend piped up with:
"Oooh there'll be loads of men in there."
I chastised her for her one track mind and insisted that my trip was entirely innocent.
Still - no harm in looking...
I can thus report that Robert Dyers has a great 5 for £5 offer on efficient bulbs (well - the one near Leadenhall Market at least) but sadly did not contain any hot guys yesterday lunch time.
Still - with those kind of prices I might pop back in for more.
Well - you never know - new day, new customers...

Getting old... |
![]()
It was Saturday afternoon, I was having a drink and the words just came out:
"Actually I think I'm going to go home. I have to get up really early tomorrow."
Noooooo!
Such sensible behaviour.
And I did.
What's going on?
Thank god, then, that I have awoken today to find I've failed to do the filing, paint the hall or pay the electricity bill.
Phew - those kind of responsible actions can get out of control!
Anyhow, I mention it as at some point I really should get round to sorting out the electricity.
One, so we don't get cut off but two, as it doesn't feel right to go on about having a green supplier if we don't actually pay for it!
So - ecotricity - my apologies.
To try compensating for the tardiness I shall now try persuading anyone reading this (and using a normal tariff / supplier) to switch over.
Go on...
It only takes five minutes...
Have a brilliant start to the week whichever way.

This section will be a daily, well - Monday to Friday daily, editorial. (Have to keep some time aside to keep up the ritual wine drinking / dancing as if being chased by bees.)
I promise to make it my mission to investigate something each day on exciting forays to find new stuff, fun stuff, ethical stuff and anything involving break dancing men with extremely toned physiques.
Let me know if you think of something I should go and visit or if you have any great ideas or information. (Any dodgy suggestions will be politely declined... or not so politely, depending entirely on what they are!)
For today, though, please just have a look below to find out how this whole thing came about. I hope that you are having a lovely morning.
See you tomorrow,

Background to This is not my...
![]() |
What is this site all about?
Well, as all good ventures do, it started in the pub with the ominous words "I know, why don't we...?" |
![]()
What was different, though, was that it still seemed like a good plan in the morning (and somewhat less injurious than trying out extreme ironing, the other suggestion...)
Anyway - once again we had been supping beers and putting the world to rights when someone mentioned the unmentionable, despite our disaffection with the state of the world, none of us was actually doing anything positive to change it.
Whether this was complacency or apathy, who knows - but we were definitely leaving it to others to make decisions and take action for us on issues about which we felt strongly.
We live in a free society, but often things seem to happen as a fait accompli. The war in Iraq, ID cards, the fact that we will eventually succumb to watching some of Big Brother no matter how hard we try...
And we just go along with it. But that is ok, right? I mean, we aren't exactly encouraging the abuse of others - are we?
Ok - so maybe my new top might have been made under less-than-perfect conditions and I suppose that means I am supporting those conditions, but - I have to buy something to wear, so what other choice do I have?
And that was the problem. What - and where - are the choices?
So we decided to investigate. Surely in this free society we have other options; we just need to know how to find them.
So we went online. There are some great directories already for ethical and/or environmentally friendly products, but for us these didn't go far enough. We were on a bit of a roll and decided that these products deserved more active promotion.
We wanted to make as many people as possible aware of the practical things they can do to live life in a better way.
![]()
So on this site we will provide information about easy, positive and ethical consumer choices. These are choices that won’t necessarily cost you more, either.
In our directories you will find environmentally friendly and ethical companies and products across the following categories:
Clothes
Energy
Food and Drink
Health and Beauty
Home and Garden
Office
Recycling
Restaurants
You will also find plenty more to lure you back to the site on a regular basis. So come back to have a wee look.
Plus we will be working on video's, events and curious antics to keep important issues in the public eye – and provide us with much entertainment and amusement at the same time.
Give us a shout if you want to get involved!
Anyhow - take a look. Explore… investigate… probe away.
We hope you like it; we hope you use it.
